To be a bakelight exterior (it could eb plastic but bakelight would be more. Likely in the era it was manufactured) on a brass base. It is approximately 8 long by 4 high. It was made in the usa yb airguide instrument company. Chicago. Airguide instruemnt company. Was a manufacturer of high end compasses, barometers, and thermometers.
